What are the membership requirements?
Membership in the Dinghy Dames is open to:
Women who are 18 years of age or older, who are members of Davis Island Yacht Club.
Female spouses and domestic partners of members of the Davis Island Yacht Club.
Women who do not qualify under A or B, who have taken our sailing course, exhibit enthusiasm and ability for competitive sailing, and are recommended for membership in the Dinghy Dames by the Education Committee of the Dinghy Dames and approved by the general membership.
Davis Island Yacht Club members, female spouses or domestic partners who do not actively sail but support the Dinghy Dames and women's sailing.
Life members - Life membership consists of members who are accorded this status by unanimous vote of the Executive Board. Life members must be 65 years or older, must have been members in good standing for at least 25 years, and be nominated for Life Membership because of consistent and conspicuous contributions to the Dinghy Dames which clearly warrant this recognition.
Members who qualify under C may not exceed 50% of the total membership.
Who do the Dinghy Dames race against?
We race against each other, compete in interclubs with the other Florida Women's Sailing Association clubs (shown below), and participate in many other regattas in the area.
What if I have no sailing experience?
We will teach you to sail during our sailing lessons.
How many members are there?
There are currently 80+ members.
What are the fees?
There is a monetary fee for taking sailing lessons. If then joining, the purchase of an award charm bracelet is available, along with membership dues.
